It’s Just a Matter of Time: Trusting God’s Perfect Timing

Welcome to Verse Inspirations! (Volume Three)

Beloved, today we are drawing fresh water from the deep well of Psalm chapter 40 verses 1 to 3. The Psalmist says:

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.”

Now, let’s be honest—waiting is not fun. Waiting can be gruesome. Waiting can feel like a marathon you never signed up for. But when what you are waiting for is a promise from God, you must train your heart to hang in there. Why? Because in God’s economy, delay is not denial—it is divine preparation. It is only a matter of time.

The unfolding of God’s plans happens in His perfect timing—just like a seed hidden in the dark soil before it ever bears fruit. You may not see growth at first, but beneath the surface, life is pushing, roots are deepening, and the miracle is in motion.

Let me take you to a Bible story that perfectly paints this picture.
Think of Joseph in Genesis. As a teenager, he had a dream—God’s promise for his life. But instead of immediate fulfillment, he faced betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and prison. Thirteen years passed between the dream and the day Pharaoh placed the royal signet ring on his hand. Thirteen years! Joseph waited, but he waited faithfully. And when the time was right, God lifted him from the pit to the palace in one day. If Joseph had given up in the prison, he would have forfeited the palace.

Here’s a powerful metaphor for you: Waiting on God is like standing at a train station with a ticket in your hand. You don’t walk away because the train hasn’t arrived yet. You know it’s on the schedule. You stay put because the train is coming, and when it arrives, it will take you exactly where you need to go. The delay is not a cancellation—it’s just a timing you don’t control.

While you wait, remember three vital truths:

  1. Trust Him wholeheartedly—even when the promise looks impossible. Why? Because God does not lie, and His very nature is faithfulness.

  2. Celebrate Him confidently—right in the middle of contradictions. Why? Because your praise is a bold announcement to heaven and earth that God is worth trusting.

  3. Encourage yourself continuously—through His Word and godly counsel. Why? Because if you quit before God’s timing, you quit too soon.

Take a moment right now to reflect—where has God lifted you before? What pits of despair, what storms, what battles has He delivered you from? Let those memories fuel your praise today. He has given you a new song before, and He will do it again.

Antithetical truths to stir your spirit:

  • You cannot walk in faith and bow to fear.

  • You cannot cling to God’s promises and clutch your doubts at the same time.

  • You cannot expect His miracles while living in murmuring.

  • You cannot stand on the Rock and sink in the mud of impatience.

  • You cannot see His perfect timing if you are rushing your own agenda.

Call to Action:
Beloved, hold on. Be strong. Let your heart take courage. Keep your ticket of faith in hand because the train of God’s promise is on its way. Today, choose to trust even when you cannot trace Him. Celebrate Him before the breakthrough. Speak His Word over your situation until your heart is anchored in hope. And when He lifts you and He will—sing your new song loudly so that others will know: God is faithful, and it was worth the wait.

Because with God… it’s just a matter of time.
